    • "I want to be an icon. I want young artists to look up to me and say, Wow, I wanna be like that."
    • "Having soul is a gift from God. Having something that is distinctive and unique is definitely a gift. However, my father sang gospel, not sure if you knew that or not. His voice is amazing too. I think I also get a lot of it from him."
    • Regarding his mother, after the documentary about her addiction: "All I really wanted was to just have my mother back, but that's all any loved one really wants. You know at the end of the day, you just want to have that loved one back. It feels good to have that."
