The U.S. Marine Corps sponsors a yearly race called The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM). The MCM, also known as "The People's Marathon," is run through the Washington, DC and Arlington, Virginia metro area.

Event History
The Marine Corps Marathon began in 1976, with the route running through Arlington, Virginia. The race has grown every year and ultimately expanded to the Washington, DC area.
