Marijuana vending machines are operating in Los Angeles, California, as part of the state's medical marijuana distribution network. Supporters say it allows medical marijuana users confidentiality, increases security and lowers prices. California is one of only a handful U.S. states that offer legal medical marijuana cards. The legality of the pot vending machines, however, has been the subject of debate.http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,326634,00.html http://norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=3391
The marijuana vending machines were first introduced in Los Angeles in January of 2008. Access to the machines are restricted to those with valid medical marijuana cards. In order to obtain marijuana from the machine, fingerprint verification is necessary; a special magnetic card is also required before the marijuana is distributed.http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,326634,00.htmlVending Machines and Dispensaries in California
