Discovery of the Bodies
Marian Soares's sister reported her missing on July 14th and told police that she had not seen her sister since July 7th. When police went to the home to investigate, they spoke with the son, James Soares, Jr., who told them that his mother had gone to visit a friend in Massachusetts. Operating on the assumption that the couple was "involuntarily absent," police called in a forensics team and brought a backhoe to the home. On July 26, 2008, police announced that the bodies of both James and Marian Soares had been found in the septic tank behind their home.EastBayRI.com: Double Murder Stuns Warren (July 26, 2008)
