    On May 1, 2008, a source close to singer Mariah Carey confirmed to Access Hollywood that Carey is engaged to Nick Cannon. Rumors became more persistent after Carey was seen wearing a ring on her wedding finger at the Tribeca Film Festival. Carey posed for photos wearing the ring. Gossipers noted that Carey's engagement ring is strikingly similar to the one Cannon gave his last fiancée, Selita Ebanks.

    They began dating after they worked together on a Carey music video. Both stars were at the New York festival to promote their new movies. When an MTV reporter asked Cannon about the status of his relationship with Carey the actor was evasive. He said, "Rumors happen. They do." Carey has previously been romantically linked to Mark Sudack, a member of her management team.
