  • Maria Amador, a director of education for the University of Miami's Project to Cure Paralysis, was shot and killed by her husband, Pablo Amador, on February 25, 2009, in their Miami-Dade home. (February 25, 2009) Police were contacted via a 911 call made by Pablo and Maria Amador's 16-year-old son Javier Amador, who was able to escape from the house and contact authorities on a cordless phone. The couple's fourth child, Beula Beatriz Amador, was away at college at the time of the murders.
