Marek Wildfires

A wildfire started in the Marek Canyon, Los Angeles, the night of October 12, 2008, and continued to spread on October 14, 2008. The 5,000 acre fire was located in the Sylmar area about 20 miles north of Los Angeles, below the Angeles National Forest.LV Sun: Deadly Wind-Driven Wildfires Threaten LA Homes (October 13, 2008) Officials estimated the fire as 70 percent contained the afternoon of October 14 and most evacuation orders were lifted.
