Marco Beltrami

  • Marco Beltrami is a music composer for the film and television industry. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on the film David and Estrada in 1998 and, in 2007, he received his first Academy Award nomination for scoring James Mangold's remake of 10 to Yuma.
  • Early Life

    Beltrami was born on October 7, 1966, in Fornero, Italy. When he was still a baby, Beltrami's family emigrated to America, eventually settling in Long Island, New York. When he turned six, his parents signed him up for piano lessons. By the time he was a teenager, he was playing the keyboard in rock bands.

    After graduating from Brown University, Beltrami traveled to Venice, Italy, to study with composer Luigi Nono. When he returned to the U.S., he studied at the Yale School of Music.

  • Beltrami's Work

    Some of the television shows for which Beltrami has written music are The Practice, Lands End and A Stranger in My Home.

    The first feature film he was asked to score was Joe Coppolletta's Death Match. He worked with Marilyn Manson on the score of Resident Evil. In 1996, Wes Craven asked Beltrami to write the score from Scream.
