Manx Cat

The Manx is a cat breed with a naturally occurring mutation of the spine which leaves some tailless. The tailless gene is dominant, though kittens can be born with a full tail, a shortened tail, no tail or a rise where the tail should be. Only tailless cats are acceptable for show.

Manx Health Problems

Manx Syndrome is a colloquially named genetic mutation found in Manx cats. Their taillessness is due to a genetic mutation that shortens the spine, but some cats are born with even shorter spines or spines with fused vertebrae, which may lead to early death.Manxcats.com: Manx Syndrome: The Myths and the Truth
