Manu Ginobili

The Argentine 6-6 Manu Ginobili is a shooting guard playing for the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA. Ginobili is one of the most feared slasher in the game. Creative and persistent he is capable of breaking down the defense put up on him by his opponents en route to a silky smooth lay-up or jumper. Ginobili’s offensive arsenal is deep since he is capable of shooting from the perimeter to the three-point area and this is apparent since he is the Spur’s all-time leader in field goals made. He is also a decent defender as his career steals ranks fifth all-time among the Spurs.

Ginobili's experience in playing overseas especially in Italy truly honed his basketball skills. He is considered a steal in the 1999 NBA Draft. He was selected by Spurs with their 57th pick in the second round, but with sheer determination and courage he quickly transformed into an effective shooting guard equipped with wide array of offensive and even defensive skills. Ginobili was also Argentina’s Athlete of the Year for three consecutive years (2003 to 2005). A stalwart of the Argentina’s national basketball quintet, Ginobili helped his country capture its first ever gold medal in the Olympics. The basketball event’s MVP spearheaded his country’s gold medal performance in the 2004 Summer Olympics. Born on July 28, 1977 in Bahia Blanca, Argentina. Ginobili is happily married to Many Orono in 2004. He is also a huge fan of the enigmatic Maradona who is reputed to be the best Argentine football player of all-time. Ginobili now turned into a potent offensive threat for the Spurs as he helped the team wield the upset axe on the second-seeded Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the 2010 NBA Playoffs in seven games, but get ambushed by the Phoenix Suns in the next round as they absorbed four straight losses to bow out of contention in the playoffs.
