    Parra was originally drafted on June 5, 2001 by the Milwaukee Brewers. He joined the Brewers minor league affiliates in 2002, where he played for his first few seasons.

    While with the Nashville Sounds, a Brewers AAA affiliate, Parra pitched a perfect game on June 25, 2007. The following month Parra was called up to make his MLB debut with the Brewers on July 20, 2007. He played just nine games with the Brewers in 2007, pitching 26.3 innings and finishing the season with a 3.76 earned runs average.

    Parra began the 2008 season on the Brewers full roster.
