Manny Lawson

Manny Lawson is a linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League. He was born on July 3, 1984 in Omaha, Nebraska. He stands six feet and five inches tall, weighs 240 pounds, and wears jersey number 99. He was drafted in the first round (22nd overall) by the San Francsico 49ers in the 2006 NFL Draft. He attended North Carolina State University where he majored in industrial engineering. He graduated from Eastern Wayne high school in Goldsboro, North Carolina where he was rated in the top 25 players in the nation by Super Prep.

Lawson has been sidelined by injuries for a good portion of his career. In 2009 Manny Lawson posted career numbers in practically every major statistical category. Starting all 16 games at outside linebacker, Lawson finished the season with 68 tackles, 6.5 sacks, two passes defensed, and a franchise tying record of four forced fumbles. Lawson also tallied a career high in tackles against the Minnesota Vikings on September 27 with 11.

In 2008 Lawson spent much of the year recovering from his injury from the previous year. He played in 14 games, starting 10 of them. He finished the year with 45 tackles, three passes defensed, and three sacks.

In 2007 Lawson started the first two games, racking up 11 tackles and knocking down one pass. He tore his ACL during practice before week three, and was placed on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.

In his 2006 rookie campaign, Lawson played in every game and started 12 of them. He made 57 tackles, had 2.5 sacks, knocked down two passes, and had the only interception of his career.
