  • Actress Manisha Koirala made her Bollywood debut in 1991 in the film Saudagar.

    Manisha Koirala was born to the highly esteemed Koirala family. Her grandfather Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala and two great uncles Girija Prasad Koirala and MP Koirala all held the position of Prime Minister of Nepal.

    Her initial ambition was to become a doctor, but after a few modeling jobs she changed her career path to become an actress. Koirala lived with her grandmother during her studies.

    Koirala's first major success was for her role in Bombay, winning the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance in 1994. She won again in 1996 for Khamoshi: The Musical and in 2003 for Company.

    Manisha Koirala was appointed as an UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador in 1999. The causes Koirala promotes are the establishment of women's rights, prevention of violence against women, and works to prevent the human trafficking of Nepali girls for prostitution.
