Manassas was a rock band formed in 1971 by singer-songwriter Stephen Stills. Their music was a versatile combination of country, folk, rock, blues and bluegrass.

Career
Formed from the musicians that helped Stephen Stills record his third solo album, the group quickly began touring and recording. While their self-titled debut album was considered by Stills to be one of his best works, their next album, Down the Road, was not as successful. The band broke up in 1973 for several reasons: Stills was working on his other project Crosby, Stills & Nash, Taylor was addicted to heroin, Samuels was distracted with other commitments and Hillman became part of the Souther-Hillman Furay-Band. -
