Featuring Phillies ace and all-time great Roy Halladay on its cover, 2K11 fittingly emphasizes pitching, introducing an all-new mechanic that will challenge players to get ever-better with their mound skills, penalizing mistakes and rewarding pinpoint accuracy. Instead of placing the cursor and then pitching via a meter, players will have to make pitch-specific gestures with the Right Stick, timing their movements as perfectly as possible. Tracing its ancestry to the Sega Genesis title World Series Baseball, the 2K franchise has existed in its current form and name since 2005, when Major League Baseball 2K5 was released for the then-current Xbox and PlayStation 2 consoles, as well as the new Xbox 360. The series found its way to the PlayStation 3 with Major League Baseball 2K7, and landed on the Nintendo Wii the next year. Since then, the franchise has been represented on all major consoles, as well as portable devices like the PSP and Nintendo DS. PC versions of the franchise have been available since 2009.
