Majel Barrett Roddenberry was an actress and the wife of the creator of the Star Trek franchise, Gene Roddenberry.
On December 18, 2008, Majel Rodenberry passed away at her home in Bel Air after a battle with leukemia. She was 76. Majel Barret played several roles in the Star Trek franchise. In the original series she portrayed the role of the ship's nurse Christine Chapel. In The Next Generation she played the role of Lwaxana Troi. She is arguably best recognized for being the voice of the computer in the entire Star Trek franchise.
