February 10, 2008: Barack Obama has been called the winner of the Maine Caucus. The event was expected to attract heavy participation but there was up to 8 inches of snow forecast and severe cold when many of the gatherings were scheduled. The Democrats had received 4,000 absentee ballots before the caucus was held. Maine held its 2008 Republican Caucus on February 1st to divide up its 21 GOP delegates.
