Brief History
Mahesh Bhatt was born and raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He was no stranger to the world of film as both his father and uncle were directors.
He made his first big impression on the world of writing and directing with the film Arth in 1982. Following the success of Arth he wrote and directed a number of films, which have gone on to become classics in both parallel cinema and mainstream Bollywood cinema.
He was formerly a follower of the spiritual guru Osho but soon became disenchanted with Osho and instead began attending talks from U.G. Krishnamurti. Bhatt wrote a biography of Krishnamurti.
