The Answer of the Daily Contest is one where participants are challenged to find the best answer recently provided within the Mahalo Community. The daily thread is a favourite on Mahalo because it puts the best answers, to the most interesting question all in one spot.
At Mahalo we believe writers and researchers are our greatest resource and this contest is how we like to showcase their work within the Mahalo Answers community.
The AOTD 2.0 Version will begin on Monday, September 14th. The first noticeable change will be that the thread posted on the 14th will be titled "Answer of the Day for September 15th" - because the thread won't close until Sept. 15th http://www.mahalohowto.com/2009/09/13/introducing-the-new-aotd-format/
-
Step 1: Find the AOTD Thread
To find the Answer of the Day contest, go to the Mahalo Answers Community at anytime, and you will see a post titled "Answer of the Day," If you can't find it on the homepage, check the AotD Tag.
A new ''Answer of the Day'' thread is posted daily in the Evening. The thread is open for 24 hours then closed the following day. The date on the thread corresponds with the date that the AOTD thread will be closed and the prize tiki will be awarded.
-
Step 2: Submit Your Nomination
When you nominate an answer to the "Answer of the Day contest", you want to provide a short, concise introduction to what the reader will expect when they click on your nomination. Be as creative as you wish with your introduction thread but we '''We ask that nominators no longer post images and videos'''. We really want the nominated answers to speak for themselves in this contest. Nominations must be unique and should be from questions no-greater then 5 days old.
You must link directly to the answer you are nominating, you want to Right-Click > "Copy" the permalink that can be found in the lower left hand corner of each answer, and Right-Click > "paste" that URL into your nomination. The 2nd image to the left shows how you can hyperlink that URL to make your nomination look prettier.
Make sure your nomination counts by commenting on your nomination and letting that author know that you selected their answer as AOTD. To do so you can add the Nomination Tiki to your comment.
*Do not add nominations on contests that have not been posted yet.
-
Step 3: Vote For A Winner
The 1st place prize goes to the nominator whose submission produces the most votes. To vote, click the "helpful" button provided under each answer. We encourage everybody to vote.
Each participant must vote helpful at least once, they can do this honestly, or they can do this strategically, but they must vote on at least one other answer before the thread is closed. If a participant fails to vote, their submission will be void and ineligible for a prize.

Interesting
Participants and voters are all encouraged to "Team Tip" we'd like you to show support for the contest with nickels and dimes by clicking the "interesting" button. We'd like you to consider the ease in donating to the nominators prize this way, as without nominations we would not have this great contest.
