Magnolia is a 1999 drama written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson (director of There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights, Punch-Drunk Love). Magnolia's story involves a day in the lives of several different people living in Los Angeles (played by an ensemble cast). As the stories unfold over the course of the film's three hour running time, connections between the many characters are revealed.
Magnolia received three Academy Award nominations: Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Song ("Save Me" by Aimee Mann), and Best Supporting Actor (Tom Cruise). Cruise won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in the film.
