Maggie Smith

  • English actress Maggie Smith plays the role as Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter movies. She earned the Order of the British Empire in 1990, enabling her to use the title "Dame."

    Smith made her film debut in 1958 with a role as Bridget Howard in Nowhere to Go. She has since been cast in hits such as Sister Act, A Room with a View, The Secret Garden and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. She also done extensive work in the theater.

    There have been rumors that she is fighting breast cancer, but the information has not yet been confirmed.
