MSG Through the Years
The first Madison Square Garden was opened in 1874 on Madison Avenue in New York City. In 1889, the facility hosted the first indoor football games. A second building, Madison Square Garden II opened just down the street in 1890. This new building was host to the 1924 Democratic National Convention. A third garden, which is the one used today, opened in 1925. Madison Square Garden has undergone three major renovations since its opening. A fourth renovation is planned to be completed by late 2011. -
