The system used for rating players in Madden NFL 10 has been overhauled to make the gameplay experience more realistic.

New Rating System
The rating system used in the Madden NFL series has a limit to just how low a player can be rated. For Madden NFL 10, EA Sports has decided to drop the lower rating limit, and every position and rating has been re-scaled. For example, the wide receiver's Route Running rating was previously confined to a range of 62-99. That scale has now gotten bigger and runs from 35-99. The developer believes this will create a "bigger, more noticeable affect in the game."As a result of this, the Overall Rating for average players has dropped significantly from 80 to 70. Most players will show a greater or lesser drop in rating, but superstars like Patrick Willis and Larry Fitz have been unaffected by the changes.EA Sports Blog: Madden NFL 10 Player Ratings...
