The star of Mackenzie Falls is Chad Dylan Cooper, played by Sterling Knight. Chad is the on-again, off-again love interest of Demi Lovato's character Allison, otherwise known as Sonny on Sonny with a Chance. Mackenzie Falls is a definite soap opera, with incredibly outlandish plots and cloying dialogue. The cast members of Mackenzie Falls, however, take themselves very seriously, even mocking the cast members of Sonny With a Chance for being on a lowly comedy. The Mackenzie Falls cast also makes sure that their set reflects what they believe to be their higher status, with a chocolate fountain, massage therapist, meditation room and gourmet food readily available. Because Sonny and Chad do have their love/hate relationship, Sonny has recently been trying to reconcile the differences between the casts of the two shows.
