• Film and television actor Mackenzie Crook played Gareth Keenan on the British version of The Office and pirate thug Ragetti in the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise.

  In the 1990s, Crook performed as a stand-up comedian, often performing as the character "Charlie Cheese." He co-wrote comedy sketches for The Eleven O'Clock Show on Britain's Channel 4, where he met Office co-creator Ricky Gervais.

• Pirates and other roles

  After the success of the The Office, Crook played the recurring role of Ragetti in the Pirates films. He also appeared as this character in British ads for Visa and M&M's. He has minor roles in The Brothers Grimm, Finding Neverland and I Want Candy.

  Crook and his wife Lindsay live in Peter Sellers' former house in Highgate. An environmental activist, Crook told The Daily Mail that he drives a Toyota Prius but dreams of owning a Ferrari. He breeds tortoises at his home.
