• Machete was initially an unproduced script written by filmmaker Robert Rodriguez after he met actor Danny Trejo. The script provided the basis for a fake movie trailer included in the Quentin Tarantino/Rodriguez co-production Grindhouse in 2007.

  At Comic-Con 2008, Rodriguez confirmed his intentions to turn Machete into a feature-length film, starring Trejo, and also to potentially produce two direct-to-video sequels, Machete Kills and Machete Kills Again.
