The |MacArthur Fellowship is an award granted annually by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation to those scientists and artists who have shown "extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits and a marked capacity for self-direction."
Nicknamed the "genius grant," the award totals $500,000 and is distributed in quarterly installments over 5 years.
The Fellowship has no application. Grantees are nominated and selected anonymously.
