Mac Games are computer games that are specifically created to be run on Apple Macintosh computers. They are sold separately from PC games which run on Windows operating systems, but are essentially the same game as their PC counterparts. However, some companies that publish PC games do not publish Mac versions and vice versa.
Many Mac games were originals for the Mac only, however, they were generally regarded as less popular than the streamline PC games for several reasons. One of these is that computer stores lacked the shelf space for Mac games. Another was the amount of publicity received for Mac games was much less than the publicity received by PC games. Nowadays, Mac original games are generally regarded as rare, with most of the games being known as ports of PC games.
