History
It was founded in 1980 with six charter members the U.S. Military Academy, Fairfield University, Fordham University, Iona College, Manhattan College, Saint Peter's College. MAAC Men's Basketball started in 1981-82 when the Army traveled to Iona for the first MAAC basketball game. Iona Gaels was the first team to represent the MAAC in the NCAA Tournament men's basketball.The Siena Saints are the 2007-2008 defending champion they defeated the Rider Broncs 74 to 53. Kenny Hasbrouck of Siena was the 2008 Tournament MVP under head coach Fran McCaffery. The championship game was held at Times Union Center in Albany, New York.
