  • Lynyrd Skynyrd is a Classic Rock band from Jacksonville, Florida. They are often described as the quintessential Southern Rock band and many of their songs have become classic rock standards, such as "Free Bird" and "Sweet Home Alabama." After a deadly plane crash in 1977, the surviving band members took a break from performing as Lynyrd Skynyrd. After a ten year hiatus, the band reformed with Ronnie Van Zant's younger brother, Johnny, as their singer.
