  • Lyle Overbay is a First Baseman for the Toronto Blue Jays. Originally drafted in the 17th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 1999, Overbay bounced back and forth between the Diamondbacks and the minors from 1999-2002. In 2003 he spent most of the year in the majors, posting a .276 Batting Average, with 28 RBI, and 4 Home Run. The Diamondbacks would trade Overbay to the Milwaukee Brewers following the 2003 season along with Chris Capuano, Craig Counsell, Chad Moeller, Jorge de la Rosa, and Junior Spivey. In exchange, the Diamondbacks received Richie Sexon, Shane Nance, and Noochie Varner. Following two productive years in Milwaukee, the Blue Jays traded David Bush, Gabe Gross, and Zach Jackson for Overbay and Ty Taubenheim.
  • Strengths

Once Overbay received consistent playing time he proved to be a dependable run producer, and his patience at the plate leads to plenty of walks[1]. Overbay plays terrific defense at first base[2].
  • Weaknesses

Despite Overbay's size (6'2" 230 lbs) he does not display great power at the plate[1].
