  • Gameplay

Lumines is a 2D puzzle game similar to Tertris. The goal of the game is the eliminate as many blocks from the playing grid as possible. To accomplish this, you drop 2 x 2 blocks down into the square playing field, rotating them as needed. The blocks are comprised of four smaller, colored blocks. When the blocks are aligned so that they form a 2 x 2 color match, they are eliminated from the field. 2 x 2 is the minimum per move, and may stretch on to other interconnected blocks, creating a chain effect. More points are awarded for matching more blocks during one turn, or “timeline” as the game refers to it, which is a sweeping force that covers the playing board in a back-and-forth rhythm. The “jewel” block, when eliminated in a normal 2 x 2 move, will also subsequently eliminate all same-color blocks horizontally or vertically aligned to the jewel.
