Luke Scott

Luke Scott is a Major League Outfielder and Designated Hitter for the Baltimore Orioles. He was born in DeLand, Florida on June 25, 1978. He played for Oklahoma State-Stillwater and was an All-Big 12 Player. He was drafted in the 9th round (277th overall) by the Cleveland Indians. He bats left-handed and throws right-handed.

On March 31st, 2004, Scott was traded to the Houston Astros for Jeriome Robertson. He made his major league debut on April 5, 2005, with the Houston Astros. In 2005, he played in 34 games for the Astros, and hit .188 with 0 home runs and 4 RBI.

In 2006, he was brought up by the Astros on July 14th, and began hitting well immediately. In July of 2006, he hit .385 with 1 home run and 7 RBI. In August of 2006, he hit .389 with 3 home runs and 9 RBI. He slumped a little in September of 2006, hitting .268, but he ended up hitting .336 with 10 home runs and 37 RBI. He hit for the cycle on July 28, 2006, becoming the first Astros rookie to accomplish the feat.

He played his first full season in the major leagues in 2007, playing in 132 games and finished with 18 home runs, 64 RBI and hit .255.

On December 12, 2007, he was traded to the Baltimore Orioles along with 4 other players for Miguel Tejada.

In 2008, he played in 148 games for the Orioles, and hit .257 with 23 home runs and 65 RBI.

Luke Scott 2009 Season

In 2009, Scott played in 128 games for the Baltimore Orioles, hitting .258 with 25 home runs and 77 RBI. After Aubrey Huff was traded to the Detroit Tigers in August of 2009, Scott played first base for the first time in his major league career, finishing the 2009 season with 10 games at first base.

In 2009, he hit .305 with 18 home runs and 51 RBI before the All Star Break, and .208 with 7 home runs and 26 RBI after the All-Star Break.

Scott is considered a Yankee Killer despite the fact that he hit only .150 against the Yankees in 2008 and .222 in 2009.

In 2010, through the first 7 games, he has hit .227 with 2 home runs and 4 RBI.

Scott revealed in the Spring of 2010 that he disagreed with the ban on bringing guns into the locker room.
