Life Before Idol
Since 2000, Menard has been singing with the award-winning acapella group Chapter 6. He tried out for American Idol's season 6 performing "How Deep Is Your Love" but did not move on to the Hollywood competition.
Hodgkin Diagnosis
On May 20, 2008, a representative for Menard's group, Chapter 6, stated that Menard was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. After dealing with a cough that would not subside, doctors investigated and found Menard was suffering from stage II Hodgkin's. Menard Update
On November 26, 2008, the American Idol website reported that Menard is now cancer-free. In total, he received twelve rounds of chemotherapy. While dealing with his chemotherapy treatments, Menard began working on a Christian contemporary album in Nashville. Menard received help from Chris Sligh, a fellow Idol contestant.
