Luis Guzman

Luis Guzman is a Puerto Rican character actor. He has appeared in such films as Boogie Nights, Punch Drunk Love and the independent film Waiting. He was also a cast member in the HBO television shows John From Cincinnati and Oz. In 2009, he appears in the Denzel Washington and John Travolta star vehicle The Taking of Pelham 123.

Luis Guzman was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico on August 28, 1956. Guzman was a former social worker in Manhattan. He started his career doing local theatre and then eventually independent films. His first big film was in the film adaptation of the play Short Eyes in 1977. He has since become a versatile and popular character actor, appearing in multiple films of such esteemed directors as Sidney Lumet, Brian De Palma, Steven Soderbergh and Paul Thomas Anderson.
