Canadian writer Lucy Maud Montgomery, is the author of the novel Anne of Green Gables. She also wrote the other books in the Anne of Green Gables series as well as over 20 additional novels and short stories. Her works feature characters with strong imaginations, determination and a love of adventure.

Career
Lucy Maud Montgomery started writing poems and journals while she was in her mid-teens. At 15, she published her first poem, On Cape Le Force . She continued with her passion for writing, publishing a number of short stories, poems and novels while working as a teacher. Montgomery also worked as a proofreader and society page editor at the Halifax Daily Echo. She wrote a column, Around the Tea Table, under the pen-name of Cynthia.
