Canadian writer Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables, published more than 20 novels and short stories. Her works feature characters with strong imaginations, determination and a love of adventure.

Career
Lucy Maud Montgomery started writing poems and journals while she was in her mid-teens. At 15, she published her first poem, On Cape Le Force . She continued with her passion for writing, publishing a number of short stories, poems and novels while working as a teacher. Montgomery also worked as a proofreader and society page editor at the Halifax Daily Echo. She wrote a column, Around the Tea Table, under the pen-name of Cynthia.
