  • Synopsis

When Leah Lever's (Lauren Ambrose) Hasidic rabbi husband dies, she meets her brother-in-law Jake Lever (Adam Kaufman) for the first time. An ancient Jewish Levirate marriage law proclaims that a single male sibling must marry a childless wife of a deceased Jewish male, to carry on his name. The only way to avoid the marriage is to be a part of a ceremony that denies the deceased man's existence. The story finds Leah and Jake in a loveless marriage, and follows them as they grow to know and love one another.InterfaithFamily.com: Interfaith... (January 20, 2009)
