Vision
Park manager and lead investor Lu Xiaoqing stated that he wanted to create the park for "park for the good of the public," adding that "Sex is a taboo subject in China but people really need to have more access to information about it." The idea came to him after visiting a similar theme park in South Korea and understood that he would have to take care to not make the park too vulgar. Lu wanted to increase awareness about safe sex as Chinese law is strict over sexually explicit content. Pornography is illegal, however prostitution, which is also illegal, and sex toy stores are widespread. The New York Times: Chinese City Is Chilly to a Sex Theme ParkPublic Outcry
After photos of the park circulated, the public and local Chinese Government officials were quick to criticize the park. The photos showed the park's main sign, which featured a giant statue of women's legs, wearing a red string thong. While local officials would not give a specific reason for the demolition order, it was believed that they felt it was a negative influence on the community. The New York Times: Chinese City Is Chilly to a Sex Theme Park
