The University of Louisville Cardinals women's basketball team plays in the Big East Conference of the NCAA.
The Cardinals entered the 2009 NCAA Women's Tournament as the third seed in the Raleigh Region bracket. They defeated Liberty, LSU, Baylor and Maryland to reach the Final Four for the first time in team history.WAVE3 (Louisville): Final Four-bound UofL Women Get Fitting Welcome Home The Cardinals also won their Final Four game against the Oklahoma Sooners, but fell in the title game 76-54 to the UConn Lady Huskies on April 7, 2009.

Cardinals in the WNBA
The Cardinals have had two team members drafted into the WNBA. Jill Morton was selected by the Charlotte Sting in the third round of the 2000 WNBA draft.
