Louise Slaughter is a congresswoman representing New York's 28th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. She was selected to speak at the 2008 Democratic Convention in Denver on August 27, 2008.
Slaughter was one of several prominent Democrats invited to be part of the White House Health Care Summit at the Blair House on February 25, 2010. She serves as the Chairperson of the House Rules Committee, and has served as the representative of her district since 1993. Previously, she served as the representative from the 30th district between 1987 and 1993, and before that served four years as the 130th district representative in the New York State Assembly from 1983 through 1986.
