  • Controversy

Louis XIV's penchant for lyrical sexual innuendo and outrageous humor, reminiscent in some ways of classic bands like The Rolling Stones, got them banned from an Alabama high school at which they had been booked to play a free show. The band has since claimed to have been "banned in Alabama." As well, the use of potentially offensive racial terms such as "Chocolate Girl" throughout Louis XIV songs have led some to label the band's music as "racist." British magazine NME infamously labeled the band as "music to flunk rehab to." Lead singer and songwriter Jason Hill insists that the songs are meant to be tongue-in-cheek and playful.
