  • Lou Albano was a former professional wrestler, manager, and actor who went by the name of Captain Lou Albano. Throughout his career, Albano managed 15 different tag teams and 4 singles wrestlers to championship titles. He appeared as the "dad" in Cyndi Lauper's video for "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun."

    Albano wrestled for the World Wide Wrestling Federation before becoming a memorable managerial figure. He played the role of an over-the-top, villainous heel. By the time he retired, he had managed over 50 wrestlers and won two dozen championship titles.

    With the help of wrestling, Albano became involved in other Hollywood projects. He appeared in Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" and other music videos. He also appeared on several television shows and played the role of video game character Mario on The Super Mario Bros. Super Show. Albano was a key figure in helping wrestling reach mainstream popular culture. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996.
