Mountain Route 2
- YouTube: Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Mission 05 (Time: 8:37)
- This one is really easy.
- Just move up the platforms. The only enemies throughout the first part are bugs and their hives. A giant moth circles ahead. As it passes over, it cause a strong wind to knock down rocks, bugs, and you. Take cover in the little rooms if you see rocks rolling down the mountain.
- Other than that, it's simple. Just clear a path through the bugs and use the grappling hook to grab the next platform. Rinse and repeat until you make it to the top.
- One spot may give you a little trouble. It's a little pole sticking out of the mountain. You can't stand on it. Use the grappling hook to grab it, and as you are pulled up, try to move forward. You'll jump over it and onto the next platform below.
- As you near the top, you'll see a laser rifle. Grab it if you want to kill the giant moth. This counts for an Xbox 360 achievement. It's also pretty cool.
- Go all the way to the top and get a fully charged shot with the laser rifle. Hit the moth square in the tail as it flies over. Remember to aim ahead. A good blast or two should cause it to burst and then crash into the wall beside you.
- Note: Watch your T-Eng while you try this. Fully charged laser rifle blasts take up a lot of power.
- Once you're done, just walk straight ahead into the cave.
- There's a bunch of trilids in here. Special spore akrid and bees are here too. The good news is that you'll get a VS quick. Move up the ramp and don't be deceived by the vastness of the cave. Most of the tunnels are just red herrings.
- Move up and kill the spores and bees. Neither are particularly hard while you're in the VS.
- There are also several thermal spike traps on the ceiling. Shoot them to make them fall before you're under them.
- Once you reach the top, duck into the little cave. Swap into the fresh VS up here. It has dual Gatlings and the ability to hover. It's a good upgrade for the boss fight.
- Walk out the tunnel and activate the data post up ahead. It's pointing to the little ledge just below you. Hover over to it and go under the purple crystal. Drop down.
- There's another drop up ahead. Just keep falling down until you end up in a big room with a blue crystal at the center.
- The rooms to the left and right have ammo and thermal energy for the fight. I suggest you stock up on Gatling ammo.
- When you're ready, go through the door directly ahead.
Chryatis Battle
- YouTube: Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Cryatis Battle (Time: 6:40)
- This is basically just a big chryatis. The only difference is that it has an extra eight little arms below the two big claws. The weak spot is also on the top of the head, not the belly.
- This isn't too hard, since there's only one strong attack and it doesn't use it often.
- It has several attacks.
- The arms can swipe at you.
- The arms can also pull down a big rockslide. This is the only really strong attack it has. It can take about 1/3 of your life. It doesn't use it often though, which is good because it's really hard to dodge.
- The rest are two ice attacks. It can breathe an ice beam or shoot pieces of ice out at you. Neither is practically damaging.
- The key to this battle is staying aggressive. Just keep shooting. Blast the little weak spot on one of the big arms. While it's paralyzed in pain from the hit, blow off the other. You now have several seconds to just hammer the head with dual Gatling fire.
- Tip: There are thermal spikes above the chryatis. You can shoot these to make them fall right onto the chryatis for a lot of damage. Try to time it right though. It's not always under them.
- Just repeat this process until it dies.
- If you lose a VS, there are several other around.
