Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers are a professional baseball team who play in the Western Division of the National League. The Dodgers have won 6 World Series Titles and 21 National League Pennants in their history. The Brooklyn Dodgers were established in 1883, they were originally known as the Brooklyn Atlantics, then the Brooklyn Grays. In 1895 newspapers referred to the team as the Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers; they shortened it and the name stuck. The Dodgers were the first team to break the Color Barrier and to have an African American play in Major League Baseball. Jackie Robinson played his first game in the majors leagues on April 15, 1947. He later went on to win the Rookie of the Year award. Years later he would retire and become inducted into Baseball's Hall of Fame as a Dodger.

When owner Walter O' Malley was unable to find a suitable area for a new stadium due to political and legal issues, the City of Los Angeles offered the franchise an enticing offer, the prospect of bringing Baseball to the West Coast and a space to build a stadium. The Brooklyn Dodgers would play their last game at Ebbets Field on September 24, 1957. On April 18, 1958 They would play their first game in Los Angeles at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. In Los Angeles the Dodgers would win World Series Titles in 1963, 1965, 1981, and 1988.
