Lonely Planet is the world largest travel guide book publisher. In 2007, BBC Worldwide acquired 75% of the company's share, and the remaining 25% share was owned by founders Maureen and Tony Wheeler. In order to emphasize its intention of producing digital products, the company changed its name from Lonely Planet Publications to Lonely Planet in July 2009. Up till 2010, it has published about 500 titles in 8 languages, TV programs, a magazine, mobile phone applications and websites.
