On August 21, 2009 Lollapalooza announced that Richard Hasenmeyer won a 2010 Honda Insight Hybrid in the "Rock and Recycle, Win a Honda Insight Contest.". The festival will take place between August 6, 2010 - August 8, 2010, at Grant Park in Chicago. In 1998, Lollapalooza was canceled due to a lack of public interest and because organizers could not find an act willing to headline.USAToday: Lollapalooza 2004 cancels all dates (June 22, 2004)

Farrell attempted to revive Lollapalooza in 2003 with a Jane's Addiction reunion. It was a marginal success and plans for a 2004 tour were scrapped.

In 2005, Farrell teamed up with Capital Sports & Entertainment and Charles Attal Presents to resurrect Lollapalooza as a two-day festival held in Chicago's Grant Park.

In 2006, it was announced Chicago would be hosting Lollapalooza until 2011.Billboard: Lollapalooza
