A locket is a hinged case containing a photograph or memento and is usually worn around the neck.
History
Lockets have been around for centuries, becoming very popular during the Victorian Era. Lockets of that time period were used to hold small painted pictures and locks of hair. The lockets were not only worn as a pendant around the neck, but on bracelets and on other pieces jewelry as well.
Buying Guide
When choosing a locket, bring the treasured item of photo along to ensure that the locket is large enough for it.
Choose a metal color that complements the skin tone. For people with warmer skin tones gold and other yellow colored metals look better, while people with cooler skin tones are complimented by silver, platinum and other white metals.
