Gossip columnist Liz Smith had a long-running column in the New York Post. In February 2009, the Post canceled her column in an effort to save the newspaper money, according to Smith. The Post gave no official reason to the public. Smith's last column in the newspaper will be published on February 26, 2009. Aside from the New York Post, Smith, age 86, has also worked for the New York Daily News and Newsday. At the time her column was dropped from the Post, Smith was also a contributing editor for Parade magazine and the Daily Variety. Smith also occasionally provides commentary for the Fox News Channel.
