  • Cleveland sports have been around since the early to mid-1900's. There are three major sports teams in Cleveland, Ohio. These teams include a basketball team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, a football team, the Cleveland Browns, and a baseball team, the Cleveland Indians. Cleveland also has a professional soccer team and a hockey team. The soccer team is the Cleveland Crunch and the hockey team is the Cleveland Lumberjacks.

    Cleveland, Ohio sports teams are believed to be cursed. The last sports championship won in Cleveland was when the Cleveland Browns won the NFL championship in 1964 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports-related_curses#Cleveland_sports_curse. The Cleveland Indians won the World Series in 1948 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports-related_curses#Cleveland_sports_curse, but the Cleveland Cavaliers have yet to win an NBA championship. ESPN named Cleveland, Ohio the most tortured city for sports. However, since 2007, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been turning it around. They made it into the NBA finals last year and won the Eastern Conference Finals in 2007 and 2009.
